Preschool

The teachers create an environment that offers a variety of experiences which interest and engage young children. A regular routine is followed that includes time for meals, circle time, stories, outside play, naptime, art experiences, and a time for “free play”. During free play the teachers provide activities which help the children learn cause and affect, decide between right and wrong, how to problem solve as well as the basics of motor skills, language and social skills. We teach about different cultures, as well as learning some basic Spanish vocabulary words.

Discipline - When children are actively involved in activities that have meaning to them, behavior problems are minimized. The structure of the Project Construct Curriculum helps children make their own choices, become involved, and cooperate with others. By keeping the environment organized and educating children about natural consequences, children develop self-discipline and learn to manage their conflicts in a positive, constructive manner. When a child displays unacceptable behavior, the teacher first encourages the child to use his/her words to recount what happened and explain what would have been the better choice. The teacher emphasizes what was done wrong and why. If the negative behavior continues, then time away from the group or activity is taken, called “individual time.”

Weekly letters – To keep you informed on your child’s daily activities, weekly notes are sent home to inform you of what exciting things have been happening in the classroom and what your child is learning about.

Additional Classes Offered – Your child can participate in gymnastics once a week, which is offered by Gym-Zzouri Gymnastics, computer classes, offered once a week by Computer Palace.
