It is the mission of Learning Connection Child Development Center to provide an environment of safety, caring and concern, teaching and instruction, and to provide the fulfillment of these attributes to all the School-aged children.
Opening and Closing Times
The school-aged building (commonly called the “outbuilding”) opens at 7:00 a.m. where all children are greeted by a teacher. Children that arrive before 7:00 a.m. are to be dropped off in the main building in the Pre-K classroom. The outbuilding may close and the remaining children brought to the main building after about 5:15 p.m. The center closes at 6:00 p.m.
Discipline Procedure
When children make the transition from the main building to the outbuilding, it is anticipated that they display age-appropriate behavior. In cases where a child is not following instruction or is demonstrating negative or improper behavior, he/she will be asked to play elsewhere, or be put in “individual time”. “Individual time” consists of placing the child away from the other students and sitting quietly at a classroom table. If negative behavior continues or becomes consistent, the classroom teacher will make contact with the parent. Rarely is the latter procedure necessary. Meetings between parents and teachers occasionally may take place should the teacher deem necessary.
Meals
If you want your child to have breakfast at Learning Connection, they need to be here by 7:30. We will leave with the first group of children at 7:50. Afternoon snacks and juice are also provided when the children return from school. All meals are preceded by a short word of prayer.
Field Trips
On days the public schools are closed, field trips may be taken. If a cost is involved, the parent will be asked to bring in money. A field trip permission form will also need to be signed in advance by the parent.
Schools We Serve
We provide transportation to the following schools in our 15 passenger van: West, Lawson, and Pioneer Trails. The school bus will transport children to/from Belair.
